FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield men's tennis team will be splitting up this weekend with two players competing at the Columbia Invitational in Manhattan, N.Y. and the rest of the team at the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden, Conn.
The Columbia Invitational will include teams such as Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, Fordham, St. John's, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Marist, and of course host team Columbia. Dan Sauter and Dennis Zlobinsky from the Stags will be traveling to Manhattan this weekend for the tournament that will cover a three day span from today, October 7 to Sunday, October 9.
The rest of the team will be in Hamden, Conn. at the Quinnipiac Invitational with teams from Connecticut, Sacred Heart, Hartford, and Quinnipiac. Last fall season, Zlobinsky and R.J. Mirabile captured the Pool B and Pool D single championships, respectively. Junior Erik Kremheller made it to the finals last year dropping to UConn's Wei Lin in a close match. Overall, the Stags had a strong showing in the 2010 Quinnipiac Invitational and are looking to capture a few more championships.
After this weekend, the men's team will reunite to travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for the ITA Regional which will take place over a five day span, from October 13 to October 18.
