ITHACA, N.Y. – Zlobinsky and Tesmond finish their competition at the ITA Regional hosted by Cornell University.
After
Ian Tesmond qualified for the main singles draw by defeating both Srikar Alla from Fordham University and Ivan Vereschage from Buffalo in straight sets, he moved into the round of 128. In his first match of main draw play, the Stag faced Binghamton's Bastian Bornkessel once again walking away with a straight set victory, 6-1, 6-3. Advancing to the round of 64, Tesmond matched up against Milo Hauk of St. John's dropping a three set battle, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Fairfield's
Dennis Zlobinsky started off the tournament against Stony Brook's Roope Kailaheimo whom he dropped a tough match to after winning the first set. He was unable to capture another set dropping to Kailaheimo 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The two Stags, Zlobinsky and Tesmond, paired up for the doubles draw where they opened up against Lehigh's Mark Goldberg and Mitchel Peterson. Fairfield defeated the Mountain Hawks 8-5 moving on to the round of 32 against No. 1 seeded Sam Fife and Will Spector from Brown University. It was a close match, but Brown prevailed and defeated the Zlobinsky and Tesmond 8-6.
The Fairfield men's tennis team will finish their fall season in New Haven, Conn. at the Connecticut Championships which will span over the weekend of October 28.
