FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams captured the Third Annual Fairfield Invitational this morning on the North Benson Road campus. Junior
Kristen Golen (Malvern, Pa.) placed second overall in the women's 5K while freshman
Howie Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.J.) placed third overall in the men's 8K.
Golen clocked a time of 19:52 to finish as the Stags' top-finisher for the second straight meet. Junior Lauren Tehan (Portland, Ore.) placed third with a time of 19:53 while sophomore Meghan Sullivan (Tampa, Fla.) was fifth overall with a time of 19:57. Junior Kelly Kramer (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) placed seventh overall with a time of 20:19 while classmate Caroline Riley (Mystic, Conn.) was ninth in a time of 20:30.
Junior Lauren Londregan (Old Lyme, Conn.) placed tenth with a time of 20:33, Samantha Goodnow (Deerfield, N.H.) was 11th in 20:43, and freshman Molly Leidig (Landenberg, Pa.) was 12th in 20:45.
Junior Nikki Livesey (Livingston, N.J.) posted a time of 20:58 and was followed by junior Emily Davis (Wethersfield, Conn.) in 21:12,rookie Juli Bassett (Oakdale, Conn.) in 21:14, and freshman Hillary Maxson (Saybrook, Conn.) in 21:19.
Rosas clocked a time of 26:26 to become the Stags' top-finisher for the second straight event. Senior
Benjamin Heslin (Kensington, Conn.) was fifth overall with a time of 26:31. The Stags then took the seven through eleven spots. Junior
Matt Brunelle (Oakham, Mass.) finished seventh with a time of 26:45 and was followed by sophomore
Kyle Short (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in 27:06, sophomore
Greg Chase (Bristol, Conn.) in 27:12, freshman
John Lobo (Baltimore, Md.) in 27:13, and freshman
Brian Cleary (Ridgewood, N.J.) in 27:19.

Vin Ferrer (Belford, N.J.) posted a time of28:17 while freshman
Zack Albert (Plantsville, Conn.) had a time of 28:27.Sophomore
Dylan Fisher (Peterborough, N.H.) finished in 28:55, sophomore
Ernie Lustenring (Massapequa, N.Y.) ran a 29:56 whilesenior
Jeff Paul (Schenectady, N.Y.) clocked a 31:18.
On the men's side, Fairfield won with 32 points, beating out UConn who was the runner-up with 53. Wagner was third with 58 points, followed by New Haven (90) and Bridgeport (145).
On the women's side, Fairfield finished with 26 points while Wagner was second with 36. New Haven finished third with 79 points while Bridgeport was fourth with 99. Fairfield Wagner's Zach Spector was the overall men's winner finishing in 26:07 while Wagner's Taylor Frederickson was the women's winner, finishing in 19:44.
Fairfield returns to action on September 18 at the Iona Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park.
