Roberto Announces Fall 2010 Schedule For Men's and

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University's head men's and women's golf coach Len Roberto has announced the Stags 2010 fall schedule. The women play in six tournaments, while the men will participate in five.

“The fall schedule includes an additional tournament, including travels as far south as Maryland and Virginia for the women, while the men will participate in two in-state tournaments,” said Roberto. “Both teams will face strong competition in order to better prepare ourselves for the spring when we compete in the championship portion of our schedule during the spring season.”

The men start the fall off September 9th-11th at Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. The women kick their season with back to back weekends starting September 12th-14th at the Towson Women's Golf Classic in Phoenix Maryland. They turn around and continue play September 17th-19th at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, N.H., which also closes out their September. The men finish September with almost a week straight of play beginning at the University of Hartford in South Kent CT September 25th-28th. They continue right away September 30th-October 2nd when they compete for the ECAC Championship in Egg Harbor City NJ. The women also start October off at the Twisted Dunes Golf Course for their ECAC tournament October 2nd- 4th.

Both the men and women play the next week as the men compete at UConn for the Connecticut Cup October 10th-12th as the women travel to Rutgers University October 14th-16th.

The men finish out October with their final fall match at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at Captains Golf Course in Brewster, M.A. October 17th-19th.  The women close out their fall with the Hofstra Invitational in Wading River, N.Y. Oct. 24-26 and at the University of Richmond Oct. 31- Nov. 2.

Fairfield men's and women's golf team is part of the 10-member Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In 2009, the women finished second at the MAAC women's golf championship for the second consecutive year, while placing three student-athletes on the 2010 All-MAAC Academic team. The men came from behind with a strong final round to finish seventh at the MAAC championship.
