Women's Soccer Hosts Binghamton Friday Night In Ho

The Fairfield University women's soccer team (1-0) will host Binghamton University (0-0) in its home opener on Friday, August 27 at 7 p.m. on Lessing Field. It is the season opening game for the Bearcats. Tonight's contest marks the first time the two sides will do battle in women's soccer. The game is CFC Night and all youth players in their CFC jerseys will be admitted free of charge.
Fairfield opened the 2010 campaign with a 1-0 win over Bryant on August 22. The Stags are now 8-9-2 all-time in season opening games. Jasmin Corniel took a long pass from Nikki Stanton and put it behind the keeper in the 60th minute for the only goal of the game. Kelly Boudreau stopped the only shot that was put on net to earn the shutout in net.
The Stags win over Bryant was the 200th victory in program history. Fairfield now boasts a record of 200-125-35, an impressive .604 winning percentage, as it embarks on its 19th varsity campaign.
For the 18th time in its 19 seasons the women's soccer team has only once started a season with a home game. That came in 2000, when the Stags tied Long Beach State 0-0. In its home opener all-time, the Stags have a record of 12-4-2. The Stags are 6-0-1 over the last seven seasons in the first home game of a season.
