FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University cross country team will compete in four different states this season, and will host two regular-season meets as well as the MAAC and NCAA championships as part of the 2010-11 fall and spring schedules.
The Stags will open the fall season on September 4 by traveling to Marist College. The team returns home for the first of two invitationals, hosting the Fairfield Invitational on September 11. Fairfield heads to the Bronx for the Iona Meet of Champions on September 17 before coming back to campus for the Father Victor Leeber Invitational on September 25.
The Paul Short Invitational is next on the docket, as the Stags take to the road for the October 1 meet in Bethlehem, Pa. The New England Championships are slated for October 9 at Franklin Park in Boston and will be the Stags' final prep race before the MAAC championship on October 29. Fairfield University will serve as host for the event which takes place at Hammonassett State Park in Madison.
Two weeks later, the Stags will join Yale University as co-hosts for the NCAA Regional championship, which will also be held at Hammonassett State Park on November 13. The fall season comes to an end on November 20 with the IC4A/ECAC championships.
Coach Sagnelli has also put together a competitive spring track slate, starting on March 19 at the Northeastern University Spring Open. The schedule also includes the Monmouth Invitational (March 26), the UMass Invitational (April 9), the Solomon Invitational (Northeastern University), the Penn Relays (April 28-30), and the Yale Springtime Classic (May 1).
