FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- With the Fairfield athletics fall season well underway, members of the Friends of Fairfield Athletics came together to celebrate the start of the season and strong start put forth by the current student-athletes and coaching staffs.
On September 11, the cross country and men's soccer teams and their friends, family, and fans were happy with the team's results. Both the
men's and women's cross country teams won their respective race at the Fairfield University Invitational. The
men's soccer team battled a tough University of Massachusetts squad to a 0-0 tie that afternoon. The events and results of the day gave the friends plenty of reason to be proud as well as a chance to come together to meet the teams and reminience about their days on the course or pitch.
The next day, the women's soccer and field hockey teams welcomed their Friends groups to campus. The
field hockey team extended its winning streak to four games with a 1-0 win against Siena College. The
women's soccer team came up short against the University of Massachusetts, but continues to enjoy a solid start to the season which included wins over Bryant, Binghamton, and American.
"I want to thank all of you who have come today and to cheer on us both on and off the course," Head Cross Country John Sagnelli said at the event. "It's nice to have so much support from all of our family and friends. It certainly means alot to our student-athletes, coaches, and administration."
