Friends of Fairfield Athletics Show Record-Breaking Support on Giving Tuesday

457 donors contribute $788,895 and counting to support Fairfield student-athletes

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A record 457 donors have raised $788,895 on Giving Tuesday in support Fairfield University Athletics and Club Sports. With gifts still being counted, the record-setting participation marks an increase of over 150 donors and more than $500,000 from last year's Giving Tuesday numbers.

"I am incredibly grateful – though not surprised – that our Fairfield Stags family has raised the bar once again on Giving Tuesday," said Vice President for Athletics Paul Schlickmann. "Our alumni, parents and friends truly believe in our mission and believe in our more than 500 outstanding student-athletes. We are all a part of Fairfield University's rise to national prominence, and the strength of our community is vital in continuing to create an environment where our Stags can thrive in competition, in the classroom and as men and women for others."

The top three funds in terms of dollars raised on Giving Tuesday were Men's Lacrosse, Men's Basketball and the Built for Life Fund. Women's Golf led the way in participation with 50 donors, followed by 42 for Men's Lacrosse and 41 for Men's Golf.

Included in the $788,895 raised on Giving Tuesday were 20 new members of the Fairfield Monarch Program – a giving society exclusively for student-athlete alumni to pledge a five-year commitment to the program of their choice.

Significant contributions were also made to the Red Sea Forever campaign in recognition of Fairfield's iconic student section.
