FAIRFIELD. Conn. – The Fairfield field hockey team extended its four game win streak with its 1-0 victory over Siena this afternoon at University Field.

Marit Westenberg continued her strong weekend of play by scoring the Stags' lone goal of the game seven minutes into the first half off a cross from Amanda Sullivan. It was the second goal in as many games for the junior, giving her six points over the weekend.

The Stags' offense and defense had a solid day, with the Stags' offense producing 24 shots including two off the post. They kept the pressure on freshman goalkeeper Beth Meyers with 14 penalty corners. The defense held Siena to just two shots the entire game, both coming in the first half. Caitlin O'Donnell played all 70 minutes for the Stags saving their only two shots, getting the shutout in her first game of the season.

The victory improves Fairfield's record to a winning 4-3. The Stags continue play next weekend when they travel to Hempstead N.Y. to play Hofstra on September 18. The game time is set for 1pm.
