WATERFORD, Conn. – In their final tune-up before the MAAC Championships, the Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the 2010 Connecticut College Invitational held at Harkness Memorial State Park this afternoon.
Junior
Matt Brunelle (Oakham, Mass.) placed 16th overall out of 225 runners in the men's 8K with a time of 26:15. Sophomore
Kyle Short (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished 19th with a time of 26:19. Freshman
Howie Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.J.) was next in a time of 26:37 while junior
Vin Ferrer (Belford, N.J.) clocked a time of 26:50. Senior
Benjamin Heslin (Kensington, Conn.) ran a time of 27:10 while freshman
Brian Cleary (Ridgewood, N.J.) registered a time of 27:12. Sophomore
Ernie Lustenring (Massapequa, N.Y.) rounded out the top-seven with a time of 27:45.

Greg Chase (Bristol, Conn.) ran a time of 27:49 and was followed by sophomore
Dylan Fisher (Peterborough, N.H.) in 28:08, freshman
Zack Albert (Plantsville, Conn.) in 28:40, and senior
Jeff Paul (Schenectady, N.Y.) in 30:19.
On the women's side, sophomore Meghan Sullivan (Tampa, Fla.) finished 18th out of 199 runners in the women's 6K with a time of 23:32. Junior Kristen Golen (Malvern, Pa.) placed 23rd overall with a time of 23:42 while junior Caroline Riley (Mystic, Conn.) was 29th with a time of 23:50. Samantha Goodnow (Deerfield, N.H.) was next with a time of 23:53 while junior Lauren Tehan (Portland, Ore.) had a time of 24:26. Junior Emily Davis (Wethersfield, Conn.) clocked a time of 24:42 while freshman Hillary Maxson (Saybrook, Conn.) rounded out Fairfield's top-seven with a time of 24:56.
Freshman Molly Leidig (Landenberg, Pa.) had a time of 25:32 and was followed by freshman Danica Ceballos (Upland, Calif.) in 25:37 and Elizabeth Butrick (Torrington, Conn.) in 27:23.
The men's team placed fourth out of 19 teams. UConn won the team title with 59 points while the College of New Jersey's Tom Bocchino won the individual title with a time of 25:27. The women's team placed fifth out of 18 teams. Tufts won the team title with 52 points while Cortlandt State's Alyson Dalton won the individual title with a time of 22:12.
Fairfield returns to action on October 29 when they host the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Cross Country Championships at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn.
