BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Despite soggy and muddy conditions, the Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams had a solid day of competition at the Brooks Paul Short Run held on the campus of Lehigh University. The men's team finished 10th of 40 teams in the College Men Brown race while the women placed 30th.
The men's team was the top MAAC school in the division with their 10th place finish while Loyola was 11th overall. Niagara was 21st, Canisius 25th, and Siena 39th.
Sophomore
Kyle Short (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was the Stags' top-finisher with an 8K time of 26:27, good for 52nd out of 357 harriers. Junior
Matt Brunelle (Oakham, Mass.) was next with a time of 26:31 to place 58th. Senior
Benjamin Heslin (Kensington, Conn.) clocked a time of 26:41 while freshman
John Lobo (Baltimore, Md.) had a time of 26:49. Freshman
Howie Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.J.) had a time of 27:03 and was followed by junior
Vin Ferrer (Belford, N.J.) in 27:12 and sophomore
Dylan Fisher (Peterborough, N.H.) in 28:49.
On the women's side, sophomore Meghan Sullivan (Tampa, Fla.) was the Stags' top finisher in the women's 6K, clocking a time of 23:34 to finished 93rd out of 385 runners. Junior Samantha Goodnow (Deerfield, N.H.) posted a time of 24:11 while junior Kristen Golen (Malvern, Pa.) clocked a time of 24:14. Junior Caroline Riley (Mystic, Conn.) was close behind finishing in 24:15. Junior Lauren Tehan (Portland, Ore.) ran a time of 24:30 while classmate Lauren Londregan (Old Lyme, Conn.) ran a 24:31. Junior Kelly Kramer (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) rounded out the top-seven with a time of 25:13. Freshman Molly Leidig (Landenberg, Pa.) posted a time of 25:18 while junior Emily Davis (Wethersfield, Conn.) had a time of 25:28.
Princeton won the men's race while Colgate was second and New Hampshire was third. Rutgers won the women's race while Princeton was the runner-up and Loyola finished third.
Fairfield returns to action on October 9 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
