FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team was eliminated in the MAAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday by the No. 1 seeded Monmouth Hawks, 4-0.
In doubles play, the Stags were able to get a victory from the All-MAAC First Team duo of Brad Orban and Ofir Solomon. The pair topped the Hawks 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. The All-MAAC Second Team pair of Jeffrey Rodgers and Anthony Caputo fell at the second spot, 6-3. And in the third position, Dylan Appel and Luke Lemieux dropped a very close 7-6 decision.
In singles action, the Hawks grabbed wins at the No. 2- 4 spots, claiming the 4-0 win 0ver the Stags. Solomon fell at the second spot, 6-1, 6-2. Rodgers dropped at third, 6-2, 6-0. And in the fourth spot, Appel was beaten 6-4, 6-2. The remaining spots went unfinished as Monmouth had already claimed four points over the Stags.
With the loss, the team has now concluded their spring season finishing with a 6-15 overall record, including 4-3 during the MAAC regular season.
