NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team concluded its 2015 campaign with a 7-0 loss to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Monmouth on Monday, April 20 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The tandem of Dylan Appel and Luke Lemieux were at a count of 3-7 with the Hawks’ duo of Przemyslaw Filipek and Christian Vieira before the match remained unfinished. Monmouth claimed the early edge and picked up the doubles point. Victor Pugliese and Vidit Vaghela upended Fairfield’s Cameron Amyot and Ofir Solomon at No. 1 doubles by an 8-2 count, while Ale Gomez Estrada and Ramy Bekhiet earned an 8-3 decision over Brad Orban and Peter Colliard.
In singles action, Ofir Solomon won the second set of his match – in the No. 2 spot – but the Hawks were on the plus side of all six encounters to complete the sweep.
The Stags have now concluded their entire 2014-15 season. Fairfield finished with a 6-8 overall record, with a 3-4 mark in MAAC play.
