FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Fairfield University Swimming and Diving Teams finished off day three of the Terrier Invitational and completed the 2015 portion of this season’s schedule.
The Stags finished with 108 points total, putting them in eighth place. Army West Point totaled 1748.5 points to lead all teams. Behind them was UMass (1417.5), Boston University (1410.5), Boston College (1301.5), University of Bridgeport (643), Vermont (577.5), and Colgate (522.5).
Army West Point was the leader of the women’s side and finished with 896.5 points followed by Boston University (876.5) and Vermont (577.5). The Fairfield women finished in eighth with 46 points.
UMass led the men with 948.5 points just ahead of Army West Point (852) and Boston College (832.5). Fairfield’s men finished in seventh with 62 points.
The Diving Team had a strong showing at the Invitational. In the 1-meter dives Daniel Pires finished in fifth place with a score of 252.85. For the women Jane Rice (179.50) finished 11th, followed by Leah Pawelczyk (163.85) in 15th, and Courtney Kane (141.45) in 18th.
On the 3-meter board, Pires again was the highest placed Fairfield diver finishing in third place with a score of 252.70. Ben Martin also competed in the event finishing in 12th (143.85). Just as the 1-meter finish Rice (181.90) placed highest for the women ahead of Pawelczyk (163.95) and Kane (149.40).
Danielle Latino and Maggie O’Donnell competed in the 1650y freestyle, Latino was able to post a personal best of 18:48.69 and was followed by O’Donnell who finished in 19:17.44.
Kelly Mulligan finished 11th overall in the 200y backstroke with a personal best of 2:06.08, earning six points for the Stags.
Emily Vlass placed 23rd overall in the 200y breaststroke posting a personal best 2:28.86.
In the 200y butterfly grace Goddard finished 21st overall with a personal best of 2:09.44.
The 400y freestyle relay team of Liz Avery, Kelly Cordes, Kelly Mulligan, and Donna Lam placed 13th and claimed eight points for Fairfield.
Andrew Robinson was the fastest Fairfield swimmer in the 1650y freestyle posting a time of 16:47.22, finishing right behind was Jameson Duncan with a personal best 16:51.11. Chris Capparis and Pat Orkins also swam the event finishing in 17:33.78 and 18:10.44 respectively.
Justin Touve came in with the fastest time in the 100y freestyle clocking in at a personal best 48.07 to place 24th overall.
Brian Burke placed 22nd overall in the 200y breaststroke finishing with a time of 2:19.93 and finishing in 24th was Nick Cannone posting a personal best 2:26.99.
Connor Daly placed 13th overall in the 200y butterfly finishing with a time of 1:53.68 and registering four points for the Stags.
In the 400y freestyle the team of Brian Burke, Connor Daly, Ben Nelligan, and Justin Touve placed 14th picking up six points for Fairfield.

200y Backstroke- Brianna Thompson placed 34th overall with a personal best time of 2:13.50.
Kyle Lally was the fastest Fairfield swimmer posting a personal best of 2:04.27, he was followed by Nick Delfico (2:06.07), Duncan (2:06.15), and Edmund Falcigno (2:07.49) who all posted personal bests.
100y Freestyle- Kelly Cordes posted the top Fairfield time with a personal best of 53.75. Liz Avery clocked in at 54.00 followed by Mulligan (54.05), Donna Lam (55.07), and Michelle Pleban (55.10) all with their own personal bests.
Brian Burke finished in a personal best 48.46, followed by Ben Nelligan (48.99) and Andrew Tavcar (49.32) who posted personal bests as well.
200y Breaststroke- Meghan Guinee and Gabrielle Angresano both competed in the event finishing with times of 2:34.75 and 2:39.50 respectively with Angresano posting a personal best.
200y Butterfly- Lam and Latino each swam in the event posting times of 2:5.23 and 2:19.07 respectively with Latino swimming a personal best.
Evan Gorman and Lally each posted personal bests on the event finishing in 1:59.74 and 2:03.67 respectively.
