FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men’s golf team will compete at the Peacock Invitational on Tuesday, April 22 at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J. The Stags will compete against Fairleigh Dickinson, Central Connecticut State, St. Francis-Brooklyn and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foes Monmouth, Rider, and the host Peacocks. The competition will begin at 10am.
Last year, Fairfield captured the Peacock Invitational with a team score of 297. Ricky Dowling was part of a five-way tie for first place with a round of 72. Patrick Lynch finished tied for ninth place in the event, with a round of 75. Steve Burak shot a round of 78, to tie for 26th while Eric Johnson rounded out the team effort with a round of 86, to tie for 55th.
The Stags were last in action on April 17 at the 18-hole Monmouth University Hawk Invitational at the Deal Country Club in Deal, N.J. The team shot a 321, to tie for fourth place overall. Lynch and Peter Repetto both shot a 79 (+8) on the par-71, 6,370-yard course to tie for eighth overall. Alex Taylor shot an 81 (+10) to tie for 14th while Johnson shot an 82 (+11). Dowling rounded out the group with an 85 (+14).
The Stags will return to action at the 2014 MAAC Championships. This year, the 2014 MAAC Championships will be held on April 25-27 at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.
