Rasmus Ditzinger Named MAAC Player of the Year

The 2026 MAAC Champion was the unanimous choice by the conference’s head coaches

EDISON, N.J. – Rasmus Ditzinger has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year, as announced on Wednesday by the conference office. The 2026 MAAC Champion was the unanimous choice by the MAAC's head men's golf coaches.

Ditzinger hoisted the McLeod Trophy at last week's MAAC Championship as the latest accomplishment in a dominant season for the Fairfield Men's Golf sophomore. Ditzinger birdied three of the last four holes to win the conference crown by one stroke with a 212 (-4) over the 54-hole tournament. He was the lone golfer of the 49 finishers to shoot par or better in all three rounds of the event.

Including the MAAC Championship, Ditzinger has won four tournaments this season with a total of eight top-three finishes in 10 events, including all five of his spring outings. He was previously named Fairfield Athletics Men's co-Athlete of the Year in addition to a unanimous All-MAAC First Team selection.

As the MAAC Champion, Ditzinger has earned an automatic bid to an NCAA Regional. He will learn his destination when the entire field is announced later today – Wednesday, May 6 – at 2 p.m. on the Golf Channel. Fairfield Men's Golf will be represented at the NCAA Regional for the third time in four years with Ditzinger following Killian McGinley in 2023 and the first-ever team appearance by the Stags as MAAC Champions in 2025.

The NCAA Regionals will be held at six sites from Monday, May 18 through Wednesday, May 20 with qualifying teams and individuals advancing to the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship at Omi La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 29 through June 3.
