Engle Named MAAC Rookie of the Week

EDISON, N.J. – Following the final regular season start in his freshman campaign, Fairfield University Baseball right-hander Harrison Engle was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week after his six solid innings against Sacred Heart. Engle surrendered just one unearned run on three hits and four strikeouts while posting his sixth win of the season.

"He did a great job at mixing his speeds and in good location," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "He's getting better as he goes this spring as a freshman."

Engle's win was his sixth-straight victory and the rookie has now posted a win in four of his last five outings.

Over his last five starts, Engle is pitching to a 0.93 ERA in 29 innings with a 4-0 record and 20 strikeouts.

For the season, he is tied for the team lead with six wins, all coming in conference play. Overall, batters are hitting just .202 against the right-hander, a number that drops to .179 in conference play.

Engle has helped the Stags gain the number three seed in the upcoming MAAC Championships with Fairfield beginning their quest to repeat as tournament champions on Wednesday at 11am at Heritage Financial Park in Wappinger Falls, N.Y. The Stags will take on sixth-seeded Marist.
