DALLAS, Texas – Fairfield University Baseball junior reliever
Ryan Maiorano was added to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Midseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist among the best 61 closers in Division I baseball. In a breakout season, Maiorano ranks second in the MAAC and 13th in the nation with eight saves.
"Ryan has done a good job coming in and closing out games with a good fastball, slider, and split," Head Coach
Bill Currier said. "We're looking forward to him logging more innings and being our stopper in the next three weekends."
Maiorano's eight saves already ranks third in a season by any Stags closer and the most since Nick Grabek tallied nine during the 2019 season.
He has recorded a save in five of his last six outings and six total in MAAC play. He has logged 11 scoreless appearances during his junior season which included a stretch of eight-straight outings which brought his season ERA to 1.84.
He has also struck out 18 batters in his 21 innings.
The NCBWA will announce the finalists on Wednesday, June 3, with the winner being named on Friday, June 12, at the 2026 Men's College World Series.
