Stags Travel to Merrimack for Three Game Set

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team will travel to face the Merrimack Warriors for a three-game conference series starting on Thursday afternoon at 3pm. The middle game of the set will be on Friday at 1pm followed by the finale on Saturday at noon. Both teams enter the series in the top-four in the conference with the Stags sitting third with a 7-2 MAAC record.

Fairfield rides a seven game MAAC winning streak after sweeping both Manhattan and Saint Peter's. The Stags are averaging 8.9 runs in conference play with Luke Nomura leading the team with 15 RBI.

Nomura had the big hit in Fairfield's last win over Yale with a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to put Fairfield over the .500 mark with a 12-11 record. That mark includes wins in 12 of the team's last 14 outings.

The Stags have used their speed to put pressure on their MAAC opponents with the team holding a 36-for-38 mark on stolen base attempts. Fairfield also holds a .402 on-base percentage in those contests with 162 base runners in nine games which includes 82 hits, 60 walks, and 20 hit batters.

Merrimack sits fourth in the MAAC with a 7-5 record after winning a series over Manhattan. Joey Frammartino is the team's leading hitter with a .351 average while Greg Cristino leads in the power numbers with five homers and 28 RBI.

Fairfield will return home for a season-long eight-game homestand which will last two weeks, starting with a Tuesday midweek game against Army West Point at 3pm.
