EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Baseball right-hander Ben Alekson was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week following his six one-hit innings against Elon over the weekend. This is Alekson's sixth Pitcher of the Week honor and the second in the first three weeks this year.
 
"Ben continues to show his consistency in being our Friday guy each week," Head Coach Bill Currier said.  "He works very hard all year around and the Stag Baseball program is very proud of his achievements and looking forward to supporting him with more runs in the spring season."
 
Alekson allowed just one hit – a fourth inning single – in his third start of the season against Elon. He struck out five and walked two in his six innings of work.
 
For the season, Alekson has not allowed an earned run during his 16.0 innings while striking out 17 batters and holding opponents to a .211 batting average.
 
The Stags will now turn their attention to MAAC play, opening a road series at Siena starting on Friday at 3pm.
