FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Due to field conditions, the Fairfield University Baseball team will open their three-game conference series against Saint Peter's at home at Don and Chris Cook Field on Friday at 3pm. The final two games of the series will take place at Saint Peter's on Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 1pm. The Stags will be the road team and bat first in all three contests.
The Stags have played four-straight games at home going 3-1 in those contests. Their recent 5-3 loss to Hofstra snapped a five-game overall winning that included a MAAC sweep of Manhattan.
Fairfield will bring in the MAAC's top-ranked pitching staff into their third conference set as they lead the MAAC in ERA with a 3.57 clip that ranks 27th in the country. Fairfield also paces the league with a 1.48 WHIP.
Ben Alekson has been the ace of the staff with a 0.64 ERA which ranks second in the league and in the top-20 in the country. He's also third in the league with 30 strikeouts coming in 28.1 innings.
Jake Haarde is coming off his first home run as a Stag as he tallied one of the eight hits in Fairfield's game against Hofstra.
Saint Peter's brings a 2-14 record into the series after being swept by Marist. Bobby Lavely is the team's leading hitter with a .302 average to go along with three homers and eight RBI.
Fairfield will have one midweek home game against Central Connecticut on Tuesday at 3pm before a non-conference weekend against Binghamton and Seton Hall.
