FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team will close out their first home stand of the season when they welcome the Hofstra Pride for non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm. The Stags bring a five-game winning streak into the contest after sweeping Manhattan over the weekend.
The Fairfield pitching has been the strength of the team as they rank tops in the conference and 25th in the nation with a 3.47 ERA.
Among the relievers,
Ryan Maiorano leads the team with three saves, all coming in three-straight games.
Alex Frank has pitched to a 1.04 ERA in 8.2 innings.
Jack Sheldon picked up a victory out of the bullpen against the Jaspers and he holds a 3.65 ERA.
Luke Nomura led the team offensively against Manhattan with a .500 batting average over 10 at-bats.
Matthew Bucciero hit two homers and drove in seven in the series. Bucciero is one homer shy of tying the program's career home run record. He already holds the program standard for: RBI, runs scored, and triples.
Hofstra brings a 3-10 record into the contest after going 1-2 against Monmouth in CAA play. CJ Griggs leads the team with two homers while driving in 13 RBI.
Fairfield will hit the road for six of their next seven games, starting with a series at Saint Peter's starting on Friday at 3pm.
