OVERLAND PARK, Kansas – Fairfield University Baseball junior right-hander Ben Alekson was named to the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Watch List. This is the second time Alekson has been selected to the national list after being added to last year's midseason list.
 
"Ben is a true consistent pitcher in every meaning of the word," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "He controls his emotions whether he is up or down. He mixes speeds among three pitches for strikes. Most of all he is a very unselfish and dedicated teammate who wants no part of the spotlight over his team."
 
Through his first four starts of the season which totals 22.0 innings, Alekson has not allowed an earned run and is one of only six qualified pitchers in the nation with a 0.00 ERA. He has also recorded a 1.18 WHIP with 22 strikeouts against eight walks.
 
He has already earned two MAAC Pitcher of the Week awards this season and six in his career. He has posted 15 victories as a Stag with a 3.09 ERA in 174.2 innings.
 
Alekson is one of 142 pitchers named to the national list which also represents 26 conferences.
 
Alekson and the Stags will return home to Don and Chris Cook Field for a three-game conference series against Manhattan starting on Friday at 1:30pm
