Stags Sweep MAAC Honors after Second Place Finish at Battle at the Beach

Waclawski Named MAAC Golfer of the Week, Chang Tabbed as Rookie of the Week

EDISON, N.J. – After a second-place finish for Fairfield University Women's Golf at the Battle at the Beach, the Stags earned both weekly awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Katelynn Waclawski was selected as MAAC Golfer of the Week, and Addie Chang was named MAAC Rookie of the Week.

Waclawski finished second in a field of 70 golfers this weekend at Pawleys Plantation on Pawleys Island, S.C. She carded a 149 (+5) over 36 holes with a 73 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday.

Chang was the second Stag on the leaderboard, standing in sixth place with a 155 (+11). Chang matched Waclawski with an opening-round 73 – the top round by any Stag on the weekend – and added an 82 on Sunday.

Led by Waclawski and Chang, as well as ninth place showing for Ainhoa Jauregi, Fairfield finished second of 13 teams. The Stags were comfortably in second place by 20 strokes over third-place Purdue Fort Wayne. Fairfield also defeated a roster that included MAAC opponents Siena and Iona.

Charleston Southern won the tournament, with the Buccaneers' Katie Stephens earning individual medalist honors.

Fairfield Women's Golf is back in action for the SHU Spring Break Invite on March 16-17 at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla.
