Women's Golf Takes Second Place At The Battle At The Beach

Katelynn Waclawski Finishes Second On The Individual Leaderboard

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C.-The Fairfield University women's golf team finished with three players in the top-10 on the final individual leaderboard, and the Stags placed second out of 13 teams to open their 2026 spring season at the Battle at the Beach this weekend which took place at the Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in South Carolina.

Katelynn Waclawski finished second in the two-round, 36-hole event, as she fired a four over par 76 on Sunday after going one under par on Saturday.  Her two-day total of 149 put her eight strokes behind medalist Katie Stephens of Charleston Southern and two strokes ahead of the third place finisher Eugenie Varet, also of Charleston Southern.

Addie Change put together rounds of 73 on Saturday and 82 on Sunday to finish the 36 holes at a +11, 155, putting her in sixth place.

Chulathida Seema completed the Fairfield Top-10 trio, as she finished in ninth place with a two-day total of 157 (+13) after firing a four over par 76 on Sunday.

Ainhoa Jauregi finished just out of the Top-10 in the 70-golfer field tying for eleventh place at +15 for the two rounds, as she shot a five over par 77 on Saturday and an 82 on Sunday.

Sofia Nogalo at +18 and Grace Windfelder at +24 rounded out the five Stags in action in the Palmetto State.

As a team, Fairfield finished at +41 (617) for the two rounds shooting a first round total of 304 (+16) on Saturday and a second round score of 313 (+25) to finished 14 strokes behind team champion Charleston Southern.  The Stags outpaced third place Purdue Fort Wayne by 20 strokes and fourth place LIU by 22 strokes.

Up next, the Fairfield women's golf team will compete in the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational that will take place at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Orange Park, Florida on March 16 and 17.
