PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – After 18 holes at the Battle at the Beach, Fairfield University Women's Golf sits second on the team leaderboard, while a pair of Stags share second place on the individual ledger.
Addie Chang and
Katelynn Waclawski each carded a 73 on Saturday at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club to sit four strokes off the pace.
As a team, Fairfield turned in a 304 in the opening round. The Stags are nine strokes behind current pacesetter Charleston Southern, and 12 strokes on top of third-place Long Island. The 13-team field also includes MAAC foes Siena (326) and Iona (346).
Chang and Waclawski are both one shot over par to share second place. Katie Stephens of Charleston Southern was the lone golfer in the 70-player field to finish under par with an opening-round 69.
Ainhoa Jauregi is also currently among the individual top 10, sharing 10th place with four other golfers with a 77.
Chulathida Seema and
Grace Windfelder both turned in an 81 to sit as part of a tie for 21st.
Sofia Nogalo rounds out the six Stags to take the course on Saturday in 35th place with an 83.
Saturday's second round was canceled in consideration of the weather forecast. The second and now final round of the Battle at the Beach tees off on Sunday morning.
