GENEVA, Ohio – The Fairfield University men's swimming and diving team moved into the top spot of the team standings with 473.5 points after day two of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. The Stags' women's team stayed in the same spot following today's competition, holding down fourth place with 358 points.
Three Fairfield student-athletes picked up silver medals in their respective events to help buoy their team to a strong second day.
Aidan Schnapf was the Stags' first silver medalist on the day, taking the runner-up slot in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 4:26.25.
Bobby Regan garnered touched the wall second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.25.
Andrew Cataldo completed his six-dive rotation on the 3-meter board, scoring 290.05 points which was 18 points shy of the gold medal.
Natasha De Pree was Fairfield's top finisher in the 500 freestyle, completing the distance in 4:55.93, while Sofia Smerechniak scored points in seventh place based on her time of 4:59.41. In the men's 500 freestyle, Jochi Nolla and
Tim Regan joined Schnapf in the A final with Nolla taking fourth (4:29.25) and Regan securing seventh (4:33.53).
Bobby Regan's was the Stags' lone representative in the 200 IM as Niagara University occupied six of the eight lanes during the A final. Allie Bashor scored a fourth place finish in the 200 IM, timing out in 2:05.07, while Callie Gray placed sixth after touching the wall in 2:05.35.
The women's team saw two swimmers qualify for the B final as Rylie Bauman was third in the event (24.03) while Holly Rahurahu posted fifth place (24.07).
Cormac Rouse worked his way into the A final of the 50 freestyle and finished the event in 20.60 for eighth place.
In addition to Cataldo, Cameron Pope and
Tyler Robie also made the A final. Pope tallied 215.85 points which ranked fifth and Robie collected 209.00 points which stood sixth in the standings.
The final event of day two came in the form of the 200 freestyle relay in which both the men and women finished fourth.
Andrew Nathe, Rouse,
Oliver McLaughlin, and Schnapf combined for a time of 1:21.87. Rahurahu, Bashor, Isla Bartholomew, and Bauman finished the distance in 1:35.17.
The MAAC Championships continue on Friday, February 13 with the preliminaries beginning at 9:30 am and the finals commencing at 5:30 pm. The program will include seven events, namely the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, women's 3-meter diving, and 400 medley relay.
