Allie Bashor and
Aidan Schnapf were named the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimmers of the Week for their performances last weekend against Sacred Heart University, the University of Bridgeport, and UMass.
Bashor brought home three individual first-place finishes plus helped a pair of relay teams take gold in a pair of meets last weekend. She opened by posting first-place swims in the 100 butterfly (1:04.08) and the 50 butterfly (29.07) in a tri-meet with Sacred Heart and Bridgeport. She was also part of the 200 free relay team's win (1:50.17) as well as the 200 medley relay team's victory (1:58.54). The next day, she earned a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly against UMass (55.91) as well as fifth-place time of 52.99 in the 100 freestyle. She returned to the pool as part of second-place finishes by the 400 free relay (3:31.98) and the 200 medley relay (1:44.25).Â
Schnapf competed in four events over the weekend, taking home two first-place and two second-place finishes individually. He also was part of the 400 free relay team that secured second place against UMass with a time of 3:02.14. He started his individual competition with a first- and a second-place finish against Bridgeport. He posted the best time in the 100 freestyle (51.56) and the second-best time in the 200 freestyle (1:53.89). One day later, he won the 200 backstroke by touching the wall in 1:49.17 and taking the runner-up spot in the 200 freestyle (1:40.75).Â
