FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball program has announced the hiring of
Chris Tilton as the team's new pitching coach. Tilton spent the last five seasons as the pitching coach at Brown University while also bringing 11 years of collegiate coaching experience.
"Chris will bring a wide-range of experience to our team and pitching staff," Head Coach
Bill Currier said. "He has experience in Division III and more recently as the pitching coach at Brown University. Our baseball staff and department are excited to have Chris join Stags Baseball to help continue our success for many years to come."
"I am incredibly excited to join the Fairfield University baseball coaching staff," Tilton said. "It is an honor to join an exceptional and successful program, both on and off the field. I would like to thank Coach Currier for this opportunity, and I look forward to coaching our student-athletes and contributing to the continued success of the program."
Tilton was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the last five years at Brown, with the Bears' pitching staff averaging 308 strikeouts during his stay. He helped mentor three All-Ivy league selections including Toby McDonough, who was Brown's first All-Ivy League First Team pitcher in six years. The Bears finished in the top-half of the Ivy League in strikeouts per nine innings and fewest allowed per nine frames.
Before his stay at Brown, Tilton was an assistant coach at four different stops including: Colby College, Belmont Abbey College, Assumption College, and St. Michaels College.
He was also the head coach at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy in 2018 and spent six years coaching with various teams in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Leagues.
Tilton will head a Fairfield pitching staff that led the MAAC in ERA and WHIP for two-straight seasons. That success helped the Stags capture the 2025 MAAC Championship crown and NCAA Regional appearance while also tying the program's single-season record of 39 wins.
