EDISON, N.J. – Amanda Kozak has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, highlighting the eight members of Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse to earn All-MAAC recognition. Kozak,
Macey Daly and
Brynn Donnelly were all selected to the All-MAAC First Team.
Kozak is Fairfield's third consecutive MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and the ninth in program history. This season, she has totaled 57 points comprised of 27 goals and 30 assists – ranking fifth in the MAAC in points per game and second in assists per contest. During league action, Kozak led all MAAC players in points (43) and assists (27).
Brynn Donnelly was tabbed to the All-MAAC First Team as a draw specialist after garnering Second Team honors in 2024. The junior has had an historic season in the circle, setting the new Fairfield single-season record with 129 draw controls and counting. Her 18 draw controls this past Saturday at Marist broke her own single-game record and mark the most in the MAAC this season. Donnelly leads the conference and ranks 17th nationally with 8.06 draw controls per game. During MAAC play, she averaged 10.13 draw controls per outing – nearly four more than the second-place performer.
Macey Daly's First Team nod is the first All-MAAC selection of her career. Daly helped anchor a Fairfield defense that allowed a league-low 63 goals during conference play, as the Stags never conceded more than 10 goals in the MAAC contest. Statistically, the graduate student has picked up 19 ground balls with 12 caused turnovers.
Fairfield placed two attackers on the All-MAAC Second Team.
Grace Slater leads the Stags with 58 points this spring, amassing 39 goals and 19 assists. Slater's 4.46 points per game are good for third in the conference, and she ranks fourth with an even 3.00 goals per game. The senior appeared in six of eight MAAC games, netting 18 goals and seven assists against conference competitors.
An All-Rookie Team pick last season,
Kelly Haggerty joins the All-MAAC Second Team this year after scoring a team-best 40 goals. Haggerty also doled out 11 assists to reach 51 points to pace. Twenty-six of her 40 markers came during MAAC play – a team-high during the conference portion of the schedule – with three of those goals standing up as game-winners.
Haley Burns is an All-MAAC Second Team honoree for the second time in her career. The versatile midfielder has stuffed the statsheet with 19 goals and six assists for 25 points to go along with 20 ground balls, a team-leading 21 caused turnovers and 28 draw controls – second on the club only behind Donnelly. Burns finished with 15 points during the MAAC schedule.
Two Stags were selected for the All-Rookie Team:
Tessa Caputo and
Keira Furey. Caputo scored three goals and ranked fourth on the team with 15 assists. She had two four-point games during MAAC play, scoring a goal with three assists in the win at Canisius and distributing four helpers in the victory over Sacred Heart.
Furey took the reins as the Stags' starting goalkeeper in her rookie campaign. She has played 831 minutes in goal. Furey has posted an 11.69 goals-against average and a .384 save percentage on her way to a 9-6 record. She earned all eight decisions during MAAC play (7-1), leading the league with a .491 save percentage and ranking second with an 8.02 GAA.
Fairfield Women's Lacrosse enters the postseason at 9-7 overall and 7-1 in the MAAC. The Stags earned the #2 seed in the conference tournament, meriting a bye to the semifinal round. Fairfield takes the field to start its postseason against an opponent to be determined on Friday, May 2. The "Final Four" will be held at top-seeded Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.
