LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.-The Fairfield University women's team golf team opened play in the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship taking place on the Magnolia Course at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista. Florida on Thursday afternoon, and the Stags sit in a tie for fifth place in the eight-team competition with Merrimack College at +21 after 18 holes of the three-day, 54-hole event.Â
Individually, Grace Windfelder shot an even par 72 to lead Fairfield, putting her four shots off the top of the leaderboard.
Quinnipiac leads the team standings after round one of the 2025 MAAC Championship Tournament at +7; eight strokes ahead of second place Siena at +15 and nine stroke in front of third place Sacred Heart at +16.
Fairfield and Merrimack are just three shots behind fourth place UAlbany at +18.
Sofia Nogalo is just outside of the Top-10 on the individual leaderboard after round one of action in the Sunshine State, as she fired a +4, 76, to put her in eleventh place after 18 holes of play.
Katelynn Waclawski at +8, Julia Rabadam at +9 and Juliette Prud'Homme at +10 round out the Fairfield five in action after day one of the 2025 MAAC Women's Golf Championship Tournament.
After 18 holes, Quinnipiac's Sophia Fujita holds a three-stroke lead over UAlbany's Mia Cepeda, after Fujita shot an opening round 68, which is four under par.
Play will continue in the 2025 MAAC Women's Golf Championship Tournament with round two on Friday afternoon, and action will wrap up with the final 18 holes of play on Saturday.
