EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Baseball left-hander
Bowen Baker was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week following his strong start against James Madison on Sunday. Baker becomes the second Stags' pitcher to win a weekly award through the first three weeks, joining
Ben Alekson who won the award last week.
"Bo was more efficient in getting ahead of batters in his six innings of work this weekend," Head Coach
Bill Currier said. "He is showing good signs of improving each weekend on the mound."
Baker picked up the win in the rubber game against James Madison by tossing six shutout innings allowing just three hits and without walking a batter. He retired the final 12 men he faced while striking out four in his outing.
For the season, Baker leads the pitching staff with a 1.26 ERA with opponents only batting .184 in his 14.1 innings. He also has a team-high 11 strikeouts with a 0.94 WHIP.
Baker and the Stags are back in action for a three-game series at George Washington this weekend which starts Friday at 3pm.
