WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y,-The Fairfield University men's tennis team picked up its fifth consecutive dual match victory and moved to 2-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic conference play with a hard-fought 4-3 road win over the host Purple Eagles of Niagara University late on Saturday evening.  The victory also raises the Stags' overall record to 6-5 so far in 2025.  Niagara is now 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the MAAC.

Fairfield grabbed the all-important doubles point on Saturday with a pair of 6-4 victories posted at number two by Alex Aguiar and Sam Hodges and at number three by Luca Benaibbouche and Will O'Brien.

Saturday's singles action was a back-and forth affair with the Stags getting straight sets wins at number four by Kostas Kollias, 6-3, 7-5, and Luca Benaibbouche at number five, 6-3, 6-2, but the host Purple Eagles posted victories in the top three singles' flights to make the number six singles match the deciding outcome of the evening.

Fairfield's Domagoj Stabek came through for head coach Jeff Bricker's squad in that deciding match posting a comeback, three-set victory to give the Stags the win, as Stabek prevailed 5-6, 7-6, 6-2.

The Stags will continue their MAAC road trip this Friday, April 4 when the squad heads to the Garden State of New Jersey to take on Rider University.
