FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball trio of
Emina Selimovic,
Meghan Andersen, and
Kaety L'Amoreaux all earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team which was announced this week. To qualify for this award, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.5 grade point average while also playing in at least 90 percent of the team's games. Sophomores Andersen and L'Amoreaux will advance to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, two of only three MAAC student-athletes to advance on the ballot.
"These young women deserve every honor that is bestowed upon them," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "They pour so much time and effort into their craft on the basketball court as well as their studies and truly value the Fairfield education. They exemplify the actions and dedication of a true student-athlete!"
Selimovic recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA while completing her undergraduate degree in just three years. She earned the university's Bellarmine medal which is given to the undergraduate student with the highest GPA in the graduating class. In the classroom, Selimovic also earned a MAAC All-Academic Team selection and a Division I-AAA Athletic Director Association (ADA) Scholar Athlete selection. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the Dolan School of Business. This is her third appearance on the CSC Academic All-District teams.
L'Amoreaux had a breakout campaign on and off the court as she not only set career-highs in: points (397), assists (136), and rebounds (150) but also tallied a 3.78 GPA in the classroom. Recently, she was named to the MAAC All-Academic team while pursuing her undergraduate degree at the Dolan School of Business. On the court, she was named to the All-MAAC Second Team and the MAAC All-Tournament team in helping the Stags to their second-straight MAAC Championship.
Andersen also was a vital part in Fairfield's title defense by being named to the All-MAAC First Team after leading the team with 490 points, ranking in the top-five of the conference. In the classroom, she maintained a 3.61 GPA while also majoring in business. Andersen earned her first selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team and was picked the MAAC Championship's Most Valuable Player.
L'Amoreaux and Andersen were chosen to advance to the Academic All-American ballot with winners being announced on April 16.
The Stags are coming off their second-straight MAAC Championship title and NCAA Tournament appearance, the first time in program history that Fairfield defended their title. The Stags won 28 games during the campaign including victories over teams from the SEC, ACC, and Big East.
