FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The three-time defending conference champions Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will give the fans their first look at the 2026-27 Stags when they host New Haven at Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Wednesday night at 7:30pm.
Fairfield was chosen as the unanimous Metro's Preseason favorites after dominating the conference over the last three seasons. The Stags hold a 67-2 record against Metro opponents during their three Championship seasons leading to three-straight NCAA tournament appearances.
That success has helped the Stags to an .872 overall winning percentage during that stretch, the fifth-highest in Division I.
Fairfield was lethal from behind the arc last season, leading the entire Division I landscape with 11.3 made 3-pointers per game. That number crushed the previous program single-season record by nearly 80 triples. In fact, the 373 made 3-pointers were tied for the eighth most in NCAA women's basketball history.
Those historic numbers have put the Stags in the national spotlight as one of the best and most consistent women's basketball programs. Fairfield has received votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll in three-straight campaigns while breaking the top-25 twice.
Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis will begin her fifth season with the Stags already posting 102 career wins. Her .791 winning percentage ranks her seventh among all active head coaches.
The Stags were also well-represented on the Preseason All-Metro squads with six student-athletes receiving preseason accolades. The reigning Player of the Year
Kaety L'Amoreaux was unanimously chosen to repeat that distinction as the Preseason Player of the Year.
Meghan Andersen, a three-time conference First Team performer, also joined her on the Preseason First Team.
Last season's Metro Championship MVP
Jillian Huerter earned Preseason Second Team honors along with
Cyanne Coe. Coe is coming off the most accurate offensive seasons in school history, breaking a 40-year old program record with a .642 field goal percentage. Entering the season, Coe ranks second in career field goal percentage among active players.
Two newcomers also received preseason honors with
Paige Kohler and
Lana McCarthy earning a spot on the preseason Third Team. In total, the Stags have added three transfers to the squad with Kohler, McCarthy and
Nia Green. The trio have combined for 2,199 points, 1,000 rebounds and 452 assists during their collegiate careers.
The Stags will officially open the season at Mahoney Arena on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7pm against Binghamton in the America East-Metro Challenge.
