FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball alumna Janelle Brown inked a professional basketball contract with Manchester Basketball in the Super League Basketball in the United Kingdon. Brown, a four-time MAAC champion, graduated as the program's all-time leader in games played and was the 2024 conference Player of the Year and tournament MVP.
 
"We are unbelievably proud of Nellie and her growth over her time at Fairfield," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "She turned into one of the most efficient players in the country and even after her injury, she attacked her recovery with a relentlessness we've all come to know and love about her. Manchester has added a powerhouse guard and human and we can't wait to root her on!"
 
Brown played parts of six seasons with the Stags while appearing in a program-record 140 games. She also graduated with 1,187 points scored and 261 career steals, the third most in the Fairfield record books.
 
She ranks in the top-20 all-time in several categories including: steals, assists (379), 3-point percentage (.362), field goal percentage (.465), and 3-pointers made (111).
 
She led the Stags to four MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances, the only student-athlete to play in four different MAAC Championship finals. Her breakout season came during the 2023-24 campaign when she was named the MAAC Player of the Year and was also honored with spots on the All-MAAC First Team, the All-Metropolitan First Team, and the ECAC Second Team. She held the highest field goal percentage among any guard in the nation with a .572 clip which also included a program-record .451 3-point shooting percentage.
 
Brown is joining a Manchester Basketball team that competes in the Super League Basketball, the top-level league in Great Britian.
 
Brown would be the ninth different Stag currently playing professionally overseas with six of those student-athletes being mentored under Coach Carly.
