EDISON, N.J. – Ben Alekson and
Nolan Colby each received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly awards after leading the Fairfield University Baseball team to a 4-0 week and extending their winning streak to nine-straight. Alekson was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week after a dominant eight-inning performance in the win over Manhattan. Colby was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week after hitting over .300 and clubbing his first collegiate home run.
Alekson picked up his conference-best third win of the season with eight solid innings in the series opening win over Manhattan. The right-hander allowed only two runs on a two-run homer and struck out six. He retired 15 of the final 16 hitters he faced with the only one reaching base on an error. For the season, Alekson leads the starting staff with a 3.21 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. This is Alekson's second MAAC Pitcher of the Week award this season and the third of his career.
Colby hit over .300 and picked up a hit in every game of the conference series, highlighted by his first career homer on Friday. The rookie also scored a run in each game of the series with two extra base hits and two RBI.
Alekson, Colby, and the Stags start a busy week with four home games, starting with the 2025 home opener against St. John's on Wednesday at 3pm.
