Men's Golf Wraps Up Action In Season-Opening Loyola Intercollegiate

Stags Go Under Par As A Team In Two Of The Three Rounds

GOODYEAR, Ariz.-The Fairfield University men's golf team wrapped play on Tuesday afternoon in the Stags' 2025 Spring Opening Tournament at the Loyola Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Loyola (Md.) at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona, and Fairfield finished the event with a final round team score of one under par to give the squad a 55-hole total of +5 putting them in a 12th place tie with SIU Edwardsville in the 19-team event.  As a group, the Stags went one under par as a team in two of the three rounds, finishing -1 as team on both Sunday and Tuesday; sandwiched by a +7 team score in round two.  The University of Richmond won the team event in Arizona with a three-round total of -29, 10 stokes in front of three teams:  Boise State, Middle Tennessee and host Loyola (Md.).  Fellow MAAC school Siena also was in action at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona, and the Saints finished in 16th place; 19 strokes behind Fairfield.

Senior Colin Summers plus sophomores Peter Crowe and Anthony Naples finished as the top Stag team scorers over the over the three-day event, as the trio finished at one over par for the 56 holes putting them in a tie for 41st place in the 116-golfer field.  Summers had the lowest score of any Fairfield player on Tuesday shooting a two under par score of 70.  Crowe and Naples finished the tournament with even par rounds.

With a + 2 on Tuesday, freshman Rasmus Ditzinger finished play at the Loyola Intercollegiate with a total of seven over par for the three rounds, and senior Chase Millar rounded out the Stags' team scorers at +10 for the tournament after going +1 on Tuesday.

Playing as an individual, Fairfield freshman Tadgh Burke finished the event in a tie for 19th place shooting a total score of three under par for three days.  Burke completed play on Tuesday with a one under par score of 71, after he shot even par on Sunday and -2 on Monday.

Boise State's Cole Rueck took medalist honors at the 2025 Loyola Intercollegiate Invitational finishing the 54-holes at -16 to win by four strokes.  Rueck went -4 on Sunday and then fired back-to-back rounds of six under par on Monday and Tuesday.

Next up for the Fairfield men's golf team, the Stags will be in action on March 5-6 competing in the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational that will be held at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Florida.
