GOODYEAR, Ariz.-The Fairfield University men's golf squad opened its 2025 Spring Schedule on Sunday afternoon away from Connecticut's blast of winter weather in the Grand Canyon State, as the Stags shot one under par as team in the opening round of the 54-hole Loyola Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Loyola (Md.) University at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona. Fairfield's one under par score as team puts the team in a seventh place tie with North Dakota State in the 19-team event. After 18 holes, the Spiders of the University of Richmond sit atop the team leaderboard at 11 under par.
Senior Colin Summers led the Stags on day one of the Spring Slate, as he fired a three under par, 69, to finish in a five-way tie for ninth place after the opening round of the three round tournament. Summers sits six strokes behind Marshall's Ryan Bilby who shot an impressive nine under par, 63, with 10 birdies and only one bogey over the first 18 holes.
Senior Chase Millar checks in as the next Stag on the leaderboard after an even par opening round of 72. Miller's even par round puts him in a tie for 30th place in the 116-golfer field.
Sophomores Peter Crowe and Anthony Naples finished at one over par, 73, on Sunday, as they tied for 45th place after opening round play.
Freshman Rasmus Ditzinger rounded out the Fairfield team scorers on Sunday, as he shot a four over par, 76.
Freshman Tadgh Burke fired a first round 72, one over par, playing as an individual.
Action in the Loyola Intercollegiate Invitational continues through Tuesday.
