SAN DIEGO – Alex Aguiar and
Diego Alcala took a straight set victory over the third-seeded duo from DePaul to earn a win for Fairfield University Men's Tennis in the consolation bracket for the ITA Conference Masters Championship. Aguiar and Alcala will play in the bracket's semifinal round on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Aguiar and Alcala defeated DePaul's Alejandro Gandini and Thomas Giles by a score of 6-4, 6-4. Gandini is the reigning Big East Player of the Year.
Fairfield was slated to meet the sixth-seeded team of Conrad Brown and Miguel Avendano Cadena of UC Santa Barbara in the quarterfinals, but the Gauchos' tandem was forced to withdraw due to an injury – sending the Stags to the semifinals.
Aguiar and Alcala will meet Sabi Roi and Stefan Vedovelli from Belmont on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. (ET) in the semifinal round. Roi and Vedovelli earned the Horizon League Individual Championships doubles title to earn their place in San Diego.

The other semifinal in the back draw will feature William Morais Binnie and Ronin Lotlikar of Binghamton. That pair is currently awaiting an opponent to be determined.
