SAN DIEGO – Alex Aguiar and Diego Alcala were on the short side in their opening match at the ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego. The duo represented Fairfield University Men's Tennis and the MAAC after winning the MAAC Masters Doubles Championship last month.
 
Aguiar and Alcala were matched up in the Round of 32 against David Mamalat and Matija Samardzic of Presbyterian College and the Big South Conference. Mamalat and Samardzic took the match in straight sets – 6-1, 6-3.
 
The Fairfield pair will compete on Friday in the consolation bracket. Their opponent and match time are still to be determined.
