FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams set several school records in their dual meet with Marist University on Saturday afternoon. The men's team edged the Red Foxes by a 207-87 score while the women's squad posted a 183-117 decision.
The men's team set four individual standards while the women's squad added two more to the record book. The men's 200 medley relay team also added a record with their top finish.
Callie Gray and Allie Bashor set the school records for the 200 fly (2:19.42) and the 100 fly (1:02.63). On the men's side,
Balazs Ament put up the all-time best in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.46 while
Max McMillan garnered the record for the 100 back in 54.94. The freestyle saw two new standards reached with
Aidan Schnapf timing out at 4:02.53 in the 400 free and Jochi Nolla clocking in at 8:21.66 in the 800 free.
Natasha De Pree finished up the afternoon with another triple win, taking the first place in the 800 free (9:07.12), the 200 free (2:05.13), and the 400 free (4:29.57). Katie Torrey was a dual winner on the day, taking home firsts in the 100 back (1:03.12) and the 200 back (2:17.35).
Three men's swimmers garnered two wins in the pool, beginning with
Andrew Nathe's performances in the 50 free (23.34) and the 100 free (51.65). Balazs capped his record setting swim in the 200 breast with his win in the 100 breast (1:02.15).
Jack Behm also accomplished the task in the 200 back (2:02.82) and the 200 IM (2:06.19).
The men also saw winning performances come from the record-setting performances from Nolla and McMillan.
Tim Regan garnered the top time in the 100 fly, finishing in 55.97. The women's team saw Callie Gray pick up a first-place finish in the 200 fly while Bashor took home the best time in the 100 fly with their record-setting times.
In the diving competition, Lillian Tonole and
Andrew Cataldo won both diving events for the Stags. Tonole posted a meet-best in both the 3 meter (212.25) and the 1 meter ( ) while Cataldo registered the highest scores in the 3 meter (191.40) and the 1 meter (243.45).
The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will continue their season with a dual meet at Fordham University on Saturday, November 1.
