Stags Host Manhattan in Front Of Sold-Out Kids Day Out Crowd

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will welcome a sold-out crowd of over 3,500 local elementary school kids in their annual Kids' Day Out contest and welcome Manhattan on Thursday at 11am. The Stags will be looking to stay in first-place in the MAAC with their eighth-straight victory and extend their winning streak against conference opponents to 31-straight.

The Stags are coming off an offensive explosion during their stay in Western New York, tallying 193 points which was their most in a two-game span since 1995. In total, the Stags shot 58 percent from the floor and 47 percent from the 3-point line while connecting on an average of 13.5 trifectas.

Meghan Andersen was at the forefront of that offensive barrage, averaging 27.0 points per game which included a career-high 34 points at Canisius. She would hit a personal-best seven 3-pointers in the game against the Griffs, upping her career total to over 100. She became the 17th Stag all-time to hit triple figures in long-range shots and just the second to do so during her sophomore season.

For her success, she was named both the MAAC and Met Basketball Writer's Player of the Week. She also raised her career total to over 750 points.

Fairfield would hit 15 3-pointers in their win at Canisius, marking the second-most trifectas in a single game in program history. The Stags lead the MAAC with 8.9 3-pointers per game which ranks 22nd in the country. The Stags have hit double-digits in 3-pointers made seven times this season and 20 times over the past two years.

Fairfield also leads the MAAC with 18.4 assists per game, the 15th-highest number in Division I. Izabela Nicoletti Leite paces the Stags with 5.3 helpers per game and a 3.11 assist-turnover ratio which leads the conference and places seventh nationally. She notched four assists in the win over Canisius including the 300th of her career.

Manhattan enter play winners of four-straight winning by an average margin of 27.5 points. Nitzan Amar is the team's leading scorer with 11.1 points per game while Petra Juric leads the MAAC with a .558 field goal percentage and paces the team with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
