Coach Currier to be Inducted into NEIBA Hall of Fame

BOSTON, Mass. – Fairfield University Baseball Head Coach Bill Currier has been selected for induction into the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Hall of Fame, as one of four members of the Class of 2024. In his 35 seasons as a head coach, Currier has tallied 851 wins, which ranks in the top-20 among all active Division I coaches. At Fairfield, he has guided the Stags to six MAAC Regular Season Championships, two NCAA Regional appearances, and a Top-25 national ranking in 2021.

"I've had such an enjoyable career coaching quality young man for 36 years at two distinguished universities at Vermont and Fairfield," Coach Currier said. "I've had many quality assistant coaches who started their careers with these programs and with me and I am proud to follow their careers after they move on.  I am honored to be put in the Hall of Fame which I have been a part of as a member and past president."

In his 13 seasons at Fairfield, Currier has recorded a 359-293 record which includes eight 30-win seasons – including five-straight – and a program record 39 during the 2021 season.

During that historic 2021 season, the Stags burst on to the national scene, starting with a MAAC-record 28-game winning streak and a 33-1 regular season record - the highest regular season winning percentage in NCAA Division I history. The Stags would become the first-ever MAAC team to receive a national ranking, slotting No. 23 in Baseball America's Top-25 poll while receiving an At-Large bid into the NCAA Regionals.

Currier has been named the MAAC Coach of the Year three times during his tenure and has mentored 57 All-Conference selections which includes 27 players who received All-MAAC First Team honors.

He led the Stags to six MAAC Regular Season Championships, securing the top seed in the MAAC in 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. The 2016 Stags were the first team to reach the pinnacle of the MAAC Championship mountain as they earned the program's first-ever NCAA Regional bid by winning the MAAC Championship.

In total, Currier has been tallied 851 wins during his time at Fairfield and the University of Vermont. He has earned six conference Coach of the Year awards with three from the America East and three from the MAAC.

The NEIBA Hall of Fame inductees will be honored prior to the start of Monday's NEIBA  Joe Walsh All-Star Game with first pitch at 12pm at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
