HAMBURG, N.J. – Individual top 10 finishes for
Maria Beltran and
Julia Towne fueled Fairfield University Women's Golf into a tie for second place at the FDU Invitational. The Stags finished the 54-hole event at Crystal Springs Golf Club knotted with Hofstra in the runner-up spot.
Beltran posted back-to-back 74s to climb from 14th place after a 78 in Round 1 to a tie for sixth place on the final leaderboard. Towne also carded a 78 in the opening round, then turned in consecutive rounds to 76 to finish tied for 10th place in the 83-golfer field.
All five scoring Stags were in the top 30 for the weekend, as
Katelynn Waclawski placed 19th,
Juliette Prud'Homme tied for 23rd place and
Julia Rabadam tied for 28th.
Quinnipiac occupied the top two spots on the individual ledger with Leeyen Peralta earning medalist honors at even par, and Aimee Uchida finishing three strokes behind her at +3.
The Bobcats also won the team title at +40 for the weekend. The Stags tied with Hofstra at +70 to share second place. Merrimack (+73) and host FDU (+77) rounded out the top five.
Fairfield University Women's Golf returns to the course this weekend to make final preparations for the upcoming MAAC Championship at the Navy Spring Invitational. The Stags tee off from the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club on April 13-14.
