EDISON, N.J. – Fresh off another conference series victory, their 17th-straight, the Fairfield University Baseball team claimed a pair of weekly awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as Matt Bergevin was named the MAAC Co-Player of the Week and Colin McVeigh earned the MAAC Pitcher of the Week accolade. The duo helped the Stags to a series sweep of Siena which improved the squad's conference record to 13-2 and putting them in a first-place tie in the standings.
 
McVeigh was dominant in picking up his team-leading sixth win of the year. The right-hander went eight shutout innings allowing just three hits and striking out 12 without issuing a walk. He struck out at least one batter in seven-straight innings including punching out a pair in five frames.
 
In conference games, McVeigh has posted a 1.01 ERA with 51 strikeouts and just four walks. He has allowed just 17 hits in 35.2 innings to amount a 0.60 WHIP.
 
Bergevin led the Stags with a .462 batting average while slugging three homers and seven RBI in the series sweep of Siena. Bergevin accounted for all four RBI in the middle game as he blasted two two-run homers. He also scored the game-winning run on a passed ball. He led the team with three hits in the middle game including the leadoff single in the 10th which led to the walk-off.
 
Bergevin is now second in the MAAC with 15 homers and 49 RBI.
 
The Stags, who have now won 17-straight conference series dating back to 2022, will hit the road for seven-straight games starting with a three-game set at Marist on Friday at 3pm.
