Stags Host Siena for Conference Weekend

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team will host the Siena Saints for a three-game weekend series while also formerly dedicating Don and Chris Cook Field this weekend. The series will begin with a single game on Friday at 3pm. The middle game will feature the official field dedication with first pitch scheduled for 1:15pm before concluding the series on Sunday at noon.

The Stags will be bringing a 10-2 conference record into the series and have won all four of their series in the MAAC this year. In fact, the Stags have won 16-straight conference series dating back to April of 2022.

Fairfield leads the conference in 15 different categories while pacing the league in: hits (420), home runs (64), on-base percentage (.416), runs (315), and slugging percentage (.525).

Offensively, the Stags are led by infielder Dean Ferrara who leads the MAAC with 67 base knocks, also ranking seventh in the country and just seven shy of the national lead. During the series win at Mount St. Mary's, Ferrara hit for the cycle in his first four at-bats and tied the program's single game record with six hits. He has collected 12 hits over his last four games and has tallied multiple hits in six of his last nine contests.

In the power department, Ethan Hibbard enters play as the MAAC leader with 16 homers, 55 RBI, and a .770 slugging percentage. His 55 runs driven in are the 18th most in the country. He blasted three homers during the road series at the Mount.

On the mound, Colin McVeigh picked up his team-leading fifth win of the season by allowing just one run in 6.2 innings while striking out eight against the Mountaineers. Over his last four starts, McVeigh has held a 1.32 ERA over 27.2 frames with 39 strikeouts and four walks.

Siena brings an 8-29 overall record into the series including a 4-8 conference mark. Tyler Figueroa is the team leader with a .324 average to go along with six homers and a team-high 28 RBI.

The Stags will host another home midweek contest when they welcome Stony Brook to Cook Field on Tuesday at 1pm.
