EDISON, N.J. – After anchoring the defense for #22 Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse in a pair of road wins,
Lindsey Barnes has been named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week. Barnes had five caused turnovers and six ground balls as the Stags knocked off Rider and Siena to complete an unbeaten MAAC regular season.

USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention last season, Barnes started the week with three caused turnovers and four ground balls in Wednesday's 19-11 win at Rider. She added a pair of caused turnovers and scooped up two more grounders on Saturday as Fairfield trekked to second-place Siena and claimed an 11-8 victory.
On the season, Barnes ranks second in the MAAC and eighth in the nation with 3.19 ground balls per game. Her 1.81 caused turnovers per contest slot fourth in the conference and 33rd nationally. The graduate student leads the MAAC's toughest defense, conceding a conference-low 8.31 goals per game to rank eighth in the nation.
Following this past week's pair of wins, the #22 Stags are 15-1 on the season and riding a 15-game winning streak. Top-seeded Fairfield will host the 2024 MAAC Championship on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5.
