ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Katelynn Waclawski carded a final round 75 to move from ninth to sixth on the leaderboard at the Navy Spring Invitational. As a team, the Stags made a 13-stroke improvement on their second trip through the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club to finish sixth in the 11-team field.
Waclawski improved by four strokes on Sunday to land tied for sixth place in the 69-golfer field. All five of Fairfield's scoring golfers posted a lower round on Sunday, as
Julia Towne also cracked the top 20 in a tie for 19th place.
Sydney Nethercott and
Julia Rabadam shared 25th place on the individual ledger, and
Maria Beltran placed 30th.
Juliette Prud'Homme competed as an individual and tied for 45th with back-to-back 85s.
As the sixth-place squad on the team leaderboard, Fairfield was just one stroke shy of Dartmouth and Columbia, who tied for fourth place, and seven shots behind third-place Navy. Penn took the team crown by eight strokes over second-place Quinnipiac.
Individual medalist Sue Lee beat the field by three strokes on her home course with a +3 (147) for the weekend.
Fairfield University Women's Golf now heads to Lake Buena Vista, Fla. for the 2024 MAAC Championship. The 54-hole tournament will be held from April 19-21 at Disney's Palm Golf Course.
