GRASONVILLE, Md. –The Fairfield University women's golf team jumped up two spots to finish in fourth place out of a 12-team field on the final day at the Women's Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay hosted by JEL Golf. As a team, the Stags shot a total of 950 over the three rounds improving after every 18 holes turning total of 325 in round one, 326 in round two and 309 over the final rounds. Sacred Heart won the event finishing with a three round total of 891.
Fairfield's Maria Beltran earned a Top-10 finish in the 69-golfer field in the Old State tying for tenth with a three-round total of 233, as she fired a 78 in round two and an impressive 73 in the final round.
Julia Towne and Katelynn Waclawski were next on the leaderboard for the Stags, as they finished in a tie for eighteenth place with scores of 241.
Sacred Heart's Chantal El Chaib won the event going four under par 212 over the three rounds.
Rounding out Fairfield's top six players at the Women's Intercollegiate were Sydney Nethercott in 31st (246 total), Julia Rabadam in 35th (249 total) and Juliette Prud'Homme in 45th (256 total).
Action will resume for the Fairfield women's golf team on April 7-8 at the FDU Invitational in Hamburg, N.J.
